The whole day of chasing sunbeams - I just love natural light for dolls... by Tireless Artist, on Flickr

[/quote]Some of you may remember the sketch of White Tender Demon. And now you can see the doll .
the doll is 38.5 cm tall without heels and wig.Around 53 with the wig, slippers and the stand.

White Tender Demon was sculpted from wooden clay, painted with primer, acrylic and pastel colors, sealed with UV filter varnish.
The doll is assembled with metal springs. She can pose and stand by her own (even on those heels) but it is safer to use a special stand which I have also made for her. Natural mohair wig was made in my original technique, decorated with hand made silk roses and glass beads. The dress is hand sewed from fine natural silk crepe and antique laces, and also decorated with glass beads and hand made roses.

About artist from her flickr album:

I was born in Lithuania. My dad was a teacher and
mom – an engineer. I‘ve spent my careless childhood surrounded by love
and fairy tails. I was lucky to have 2 wonderful grandmothers and a
grandfather and even a grand grandfather – who were taking me to the
world of beautiful memories from their childhood, to the world of magic
and fairy tails, to the world of plants and animals which could feel and
understand just like us – humans.

I have always been a creative kid, so no surprise that after finishing the secondary school I’ve entered the Art College.
I’ve been working as a graphic and interior designer for more than 7
years, but I had always the feeling, that I can do more. At this point I
have discovered art dolls, and I felt in love with this art. Inspired
by works of many fabulous doll artists, I’ve started sculpting myself.

I just can’t describe the wonderful feeling of creating a doll. I enjoy
each process. First they appear in my mind, and I am carrying them there
for a while. I am trying to see as many details as possible – the face,
the position, the colors, the fabrics of the outfit, all the
accessories and finally to guess the character’s name and the story
behind it. When I know enough, I am starting to work. I’m making sketches and notes in purpose to put all the ideas together and I keep it as a reminder on my table during the whole doll making process.
I never stop getting surprised, when a simple peace of clay turns into a
face with its own character. It takes a lot of hours until I am
completely satisfied with the sculpting. I keep cutting, sanding and sculpting again until there comes a moment when I see – yes, this is it!

Then it comes the painting time. Oh, what a celebration for the
eyes, when a colorless face becomes a face of a truly living being. I
love oil painting. I love the smell of natural oil; I love how the paint
lays on the surface. I also love acrylic paint – one can create such a
wonderful rough surface making the doll into a creature from other
dimension. I also enjoy a lot pencil and dry pastels - the doll becomes a
3D drawing, as she would have stepped out straight from my sketching
book. It is always about the style of a doll I am creating, I just
choose what fits it best. Painting the doll is a wonderful experience –
it is like painting a three-dimensional picture.
Then the hair and the outfit come. Did you know that the hair of a
doll can be stilled in absolutely any hair dress? There are just no
limits for that! And it is the same with the outfit. You do not need to
worry if the clothes are comfortable, if they are easy to wash or will
they still fit if their owner will gain a couple of kilograms more!
There are no limits for fantasy, non limits at all! I love inventing new
techniques, combining unobtainable, playing with colors and textures,
making beadwork and embroidering. I believe that real peace of art must
have lots and lots of hand work. Sometimes I get surprised by myself –
where do I get so much patience? Smile

Suddenly everything finishes. The doll doesn’t need my work anymore. It
is complete and now it lives on its own. It is always a bit sad and very
joyful at the same time. Sometimes I catch myself just sitting in front
of them and looking at them for hours. It’s like taking back the energy
which I gave while creating them. That energy never finishes, it comes
back like a strong float and brings the new inspiration to work and
create.
